Mechanistic & Therapeutic insights into Motile Ciliogenesis & Respiratory dysfunction (Primary cilia dyskinesia): Tumor suppressor ARF increases Cilia length and number via up regulation of its target gene

AMOUNT: $ 200

A study fromDivision ofCellular and Developmental Biology,MCB Department, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California, USAhas reported that“miR-34/449 miRNAs are required for motile ciliogenesis by..”

This study was published in the 04 June2014Nature(IF:38.597)byProf.Lin He,Song Ruiand othersfromDivision of Cellular and Developmental Biology, MCB Department, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California, USA.

On the foundation of this interesting finding,Dr L Boominathan,Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD,reports here that:Mechanistic & Therapeutic insights into Motile Ciliogenesis &Respiratory dysfunction(Primary cilia dyskinesia):Tumor suppressor ARFincreasesCilia length and number via up regulation of its target gene. This study suggests that ARF, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it couldalleviate the respiratory dysfunction found inPrimary cilia dyskinesia. Together, this studysuggests thatpharmacological formulations encompassing “ARF inducers”canbe used to treatPrimary cilia dyskinesia.
